Thank you to everyone who gave feedback about council’s recently endorsed 2021-22 Budget.
We’re proud to commit to a record annual infrastructure spending program worth $209 million.
The decision to fund a diverse range of projects was guided by Our Community Plan 2021-25, which sets out council’s strategic priorities for the next four years.
I’m pleased FC Leopold is one of those projects, receiving $1.875 million over the next two years to upgrade facilities at Estuary Estate.
What a great result for the Leopold soccer community, as well as the broader sporting community on the Bellarine and local residents.
It’ll provide a morale boost during the pandemic and will no doubt attract more members.
Speaking of funding, applications are open for council’s 2021-22 grants program.
If you’re involved in a community group or club, now’s your chance to put your hat in the ring.
There are a number of categories, including sport, First Nations heritage and environmental sustainability.

Council’s looking to refresh the 30-year community-led vision ‘Greater Geelong: A clever and creative future’ to make sure it’s still relevant in a post-COVID world.
The community has identified that issues such as helping the local economy adapt to change, mental health and community connection need specific attention.

And finally, council welcomes the recent Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey results.
Council’s response to COVID-19 with $16.9 million in business and community initiatives was well regarded, while environmental sustainability and planning for growth were identified for improvement.
It’s important for council and the City to reflect on gaps and opportunities, so that we can better improve our services.
