Jim Mason - Working Hard for the Bellarine


As a Councillor I have:
• Worked whole-heartedly for the Bellarine and our Municipality
• Met with, listened to and assisted many individuals and groups
• Advocated for careful planning, social equity and the environment.

In my personal life I have:
• Had extensive International Leadership experience in Humanitarian Recovery Programmes
• A background in Civil Engineering and Science Teaching
• Local Knowledge - raised on the Bellarine and studied at the Gordon and Deakin
• Environmental Credentials - Landcare and Restoration projects, and farming on the Bellarine

I Will Foster:
• Mature and Consultative Leadership
• Ethical Government
• Progressive Planning in our UNESCO City of Design.

If Elected for a Second Term I Will Focus on:
• Ensuring a fair deal for all with special attention to the disadvanaged
• Local and Global Action for Climate Change and Biodiversity Resoration
• Revitalization and recovery of business and agriculture
• Protecting the coastal, rural and urban environments
• Enhancing sporting, social and cultural amenities
• Improving public transport and shared pathways
• Encouraging opportunities for young people

2020-21 Budget – Funded for Bellarine
• Capital Works Programme - $7.7million
• Roads, footpaths and drainage - $3.1 Million
• Parks, Sporting and Recreation Facilities - $3.3m
• Shared Trails and North Bellarine Aquatic Centre $1.2m
• A Bellarine Enhanced Broadband Installation $610K
• Restoring The Rural Landscape Projects (approx. 257K)

Supported and achieved:
• COVID-19 Business and Community Recovery Package
• Fairer rates and charges for all
• Social Housing and Food Relief
• Environmentally Sustainable Housing Policy
• Hard waste, plastic wise and circular economy
• Revitalization and recovery of business and agriculture
• Protecting the coastal, rural and urban environments
• Enhancing sporting, social and cultural amenities
• Improving public transport and shared pathways
• Encouraging opportunities for young people
